"I opened the salons… ladies and a separate barber shop called Crop Shop on 17th May 1982 on the first floor of 19a Yarm Lane. Business took off really fast and I reinvested money to upgrade the salon with a refit from Wella. I went on to buy the building, and the one next door, to expand the salon in 1989. Since then we've moved to the ground floor.
"At Tatters, we like to keep up with new trends and try to stay one step ahead of our competition. We want our clients to feel relaxed and comfortable when they come to our salon.
"We also believe in the ongoing training of our stylists. We have two Wella Master Colour Experts, Becky & Nikki, to make sure we stay ahead of changing trends plus we also use new Wella products whenever they come onto the market.
"I believe you only get one chance to make a first impression and if we don't look after our clients, someone else will."
